Given that Avina is going to start attending weekday RPs at 7:00 PM, should the group change the time as well? 6 votes

Yes, we should change the time to 7:00 PM EST. 2
Keep it 6:00 PM EST, I feel a change is unnecessary. 4

Hey all,

As I have mentioned to some of you, I am planning on changing when I go to RPs on weekdays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The reason is that in part of my job changing more towards spending the whole day working on our databases, I tend to be burnt out by the time I get home and the last thing I'm really wanting to do at that point is jump on the computer again. So I've just decided that it might be better if I get home, take a little bit extra time to unwind from the day, so that I can come to RP with my mind refreshed.

I had originally not wanting to impose this on others but after talking to some members I think it would be important to instead put this to a vote. The reason that some have given me is that Avina is one of the more approachable characters in the story right now, having me come later might cause people to come at 7 when they know I'm going to be around, people may come at 6 and not really do much, or worse, they come at 6 and get bored and leave for the day.

So I figured I'd like to just put it to a straight vote to decide. Either way I'm still going to come at7, just because I think that will help me to be more involved. But perhaps it may be easier if we all change to 7. I dunno, you guys pick!

<.< you posted in the wrong section again! MOVED!
To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

I'm going to vote against this personally. To start at 7pm means to start at 1am my time. Plus, seeing how the LS has been acting so far, to make 7pm the start time will actually turn 7pm in the "start gathering" time, to which will then follow the "chat and prepare time". Ultimately, RP would begin at like 2 or 3am my time and that is something I'd rather avoid.

So I hope the schedule doesn't change. Avina will miss the initial chat, but at least we'd be hopefully ready to roll by the time he shows up online. Even in the case we actually started RPing, I'm sure he, and any of those that may decide to arrive later, wouldn't be missing anything important.

I think the timeslot should still open at 6, but have 6 to 7 be a sort of "prep, gather, and chat time", with actual RP starting at (or close) to 7; basically just a formalization of how things currently work. And if people feel like starting early, that's fine. This is just moving the expectation of when RP starts back a bit, so again people don't wander off because "nothing is happening". This should not, I think, be taken in as a "Okay, now everyone start logging in/mulehopping/switching pearls/prepping at 7". Because then we run the risk of not starting RP until nearly 8, and that's a late start time for anyone on the east coast, or further east.

I'm voting for starting at 7, but only in the sense that that's when RP is actually going to start. I'll still be logged in at 6 and ready to go, and would like it if others continue to do so as well.

When the hero enters to kill me, I will ask him to first explain to my grandchild why it is necessary to kill her beloved grandma. When the hero launches into an explanation of morality way over her head, that will be her cue to pull the lever and send him into the pit of crocodiles. After all, small children like crocodiles almost as much as Evil Overlords and it's important to spend quality time with the grandkids.

"How hard did you hit him?"
"Quite hard, actually. For some reason he irritated me." They stared back to where the Grolim lay.
"You're getting to be more like Belgarath every day," Silk told him. "You do more damage out of simple irritation than most men can do in a towering rage."

Yep. This being exactly the scenario I'm wary of as well. It's the opposite of people getting bored and wandering off… HOWEVER, it's also preventable as long as people who have no reason to change behaviors -don't- change their behavior.

… Not only that, but 8pm is a late time to start. I remember when that used to be the start time and even living on the east coast, I often couldn't attend for more than an hour because of work.

Unless RP is changed to say Midnight Eastern Time the gain or loss of an hour on start time will neither help nor hinder me since I'll more than likely be at work until almost midnight most nights we have RP.

Alrighty, given the votes, we're going to keep it at the scheduled 6:00 PM time, however I will probably frequently be coming still at 7 unless we have an event specifically planned. I know on Wednesday I got delayed for like an hour muling a bunch of stuff over but I will try to make it a priority to not have this happen in the future.
