Recently transferred over to Siren from Sylph to join some friends. Avina told me about the site (we kind of know him as Blade in XIV) and so here I am!!

FFXI background goes all the way back to NA launch in 2003. I was that guy soloing DRG on oddball things because I worked 3rd Shift at the time and there was that whole 'loldrg' stigma back then which I enjoyed proving wrong as often as I could.

Early in 2004 I grew frustrated with "the grind" and ultimately retired a character on Gilgamesh to create anew on Sylph (before world transfers were a thing) so that I could join a RPLS called Sylvestra run by a fellow named Valcore. Had a lot of fun doing this but the LS wasn't to last, and there was some shuffling around after that and from the ashes a few friends and I created Crystalline, which would eventually last something like 7 years before gracefully coming to an end as most of our members at the time were looking to XIV to start anew. I did get involved with endgame and juggled endgame and RP for several years, starting somewhere around 2006. A career DRG, I had leveled BLM and DRK up to 75 as well, but when the cap went up I refused to level anything besides DRG because, frankly, I was tired of being asked to nuke for endgame type events.

In FFXIV Avina/Blade knows me as Eva Ianeira - a kind and thoughtful priestess type with a buxom physique and a calming demeanor who loves tea, ballroom dance, and her pet bat named Bixby. I suppose it's technically "us" since my wife plays the XIV character about as often as I do, but has little interest in XI so it will just me "this half of Eva" here. The XIV character is actually based off the adult daughter of Dyterium with the lore adjusted a bit to fit the world of FFXIV.

The character Dyterium himself has been thoroughly fleshed out from nearly a decade of RP on Sylph, though I'll probably be making some minor changes to him as I go in order to help ease the transition a bit. He's 33 years old with a young daughter named Kes (who will grow up to become "Eva" as mentioned above). His past is kind of steeped with tragedy. He's San d'Orian and spent a good deal of time climbing the ranks as a Temple Knight until he reached Captain, at which point he retired for reasons only he really knows. He comes from humble beginnings, a self-made man, the son of a carpenter. His wife left him for another man. He has a number of interesting quirks which will manifest themselves throughout RP, but buried beneath a somewhat coarse and coldish exterior beats a heart of gold. Those whom he deems worthy of friendship will find he goes to the end of the world and back to show his loyalty and devotion.

I think I probably posted more than I really needed to here but if anyone has any questions or anything I'll be glad to answer them. :) I admit it will probably take me a little time to adapt to the methods used for chat, and to get to know some of you. I also probably won't be playing as often as I used to either (overtime at work, busy home life, etc.) and even less-so after FFXIV goes live, but I do hope to make some friends OOC, maybe ruffle a few feathers IC or make some friendships there as well, depending on how the cards fall.

TL;DR: Nice to meet you! I'm Dy, a Temple Knight and often kind of a jerk. :D

Are you the same Eva who once knew a Murivi?

As a former main elvaan DRG RPer (female though), I say YAY! Finally another proud San d'Orian elvaan with my favorite job, too! Looking forward to see you in action!
To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." – Doug Walker
