Alone

For those who don't know/don't remember:

Feliz is the Blue Mage who originally tricked/tempted Sae to become a BLU in the first place.

Senka was Saerun's third alter that was created by her obsession with blue magic the first time she began to use it. It was destroyed after it took over and began to plot on how to destroy the rest of the group.

Sobe laid on the grass of West Sarutabaruta, staring out at the ocean, and the clouds above her. It'd been a quiet week since she had helped with the odd recruitment thing for Siren's Sword. Quiet enough that she was getting bored. Very bored. Which is how she currently found herself laying here.

Fencing training, done. Black magic training, done. Meditation, done. Crafted some bonecraft items and sold them, check. Check her delivery box for money, not done, but she was too relaxed to move at the moment.

A wierd sensation prickled at the back of her mind, perhaps that of being watched. Sobe glanced around, and then tilted her head back only to blink as she saw an upside down Mandragora only an ilm from her head.

"Kwee~!" It poked her forehead, before waddling off making a sound that sounded a lot like a laugh. Sobe smiled, relaxing and resuming her staring at the clouds.

"Having fun, Sobe-chan?" The familiar voice made her groan in exasperation. Of course he would come and ruin her nice, relaxing day. It had been so long since she had seen Feliz, that she thought that he had forgotten about her. Apparently she had no such luck. Sobe quickly stood up and turned to face the Blue Mage who had been the bane of her existance since her mother had died.

"So where's your little boyfriend? Your friends?" Feliz was only standing 10 yalms from her and he stepped forward towards her. 8 yalms.

"That's none of your business." Sobe glared at him. Feliz chuckled and shrugged.

"Perhaps you're right. It isn't. After all, it just means that I can visit you more often…" Sobe rolled her eyes. 6 yalms.

"How about you don't? In fact, why are you even here? I thought you were obsessed with Sae. And she's not exactly here anymore." Sobe spat out. She sensed the smile behind his veil even without seeing it.

"Oh I know…I've come here for you this time. You've done well in creating yourself. A monk, a red mage…" 2 yalms. They were standing face to face now. Feliz reached up and was about to touch her cheek, when Sobe quickly slapped it away. Which apparently was exactly what Feliz was after. He gripped her left hand tightly, making her wince.

"And yet…you seem to have forgotten our agreement. I gave you power. Power that, when used correctly, can be beyond your wildest imagination…Yet, it is permanent. You tried to ignore it. You were afraid of something like Senka reoccuring and losing yourself. I'm not going to let you forget. In fact…" Feliz stepped even closer, and Sobe stepped back, trying to pull her hand free. His grip grew tighter.

"I think I'll help you remember." She felt the mark on her hand heating up as energy around Feliz began to grow. It was a familiar sensation, the feeling of blue magic. It was something that she, and Sae, had become far too aquianted to.

The mark burned and she nearly cried. It hurt, but the power…It was a power far beyond what she had experienced before. Stronger than being a Monk…than being a Red Mage…why had she avoided this for so long?

Senka! Remember Senka! She was the Blue Mage! She tried to destroy you- and your friends!

Who cares? With power likes this, who needs friends?!

Sobe fell to her knees with a cry. Feliz smirked.

"You are powerful, and yet you're not using it. This is your full power…without your self-imposed limitations. You are the only one holding you back. And the best part…as strong as you feel right now…" He leaned in and hissed. "You can become even stronger."

Sobe looked up sharply.

"Stronger…?" He chuckled softly.

"That's right…Look there." He let go of her hand and then pointed behind her. She turned and locked onto the tiny little mandragora from earlier. It paused, seeing the two pointing at it, and tilted its head.

"Kwee~?"

Hunger grew in her stomach, staring at the mandragora.

"You've starved yourself of magic for so long…take it, and become stronger…" Feliz stepped backwards, watching the scene.

No…no! I can't! It's just…a little mandragora!

Her breath quickened as she stared the mandragora down. The magic…the power…

Take it…it's right there! You know that some new adventurer will come out and kill it painfully. You can make it quick…it'll be merciful.

"No…" Sobe whispered, closing her eyes. All she could see in her mind was the mandy, peering ever so curiously at her, the powerful magic coursing through her blood.

"Jericho…Avina…Nodem….Help me…please…!" Feliz laughed from behind her.

"They're not here. Where are your friends, Sobe-chan? They won't help you. You're alone."

Alone…alone…

The mandragora ran up to Sobe, and poked her in the forehead. She hissed and lept forward. The next thing that she was aware of, she was holding a dead mandragora in her hands. The magic and hunger had receeded down to a managable level.

Her eyes widened in horror at the corpse.

"No…I didn't…I couldn't…"

A soft laugh eminated from behind her.

"Blue Magic doesn't create a monster…it only brings out the monster that already exists. This…is who you are. Stop denying it, and embrace it. Only by embracing can you dream to control it. And only by embracing it…can you grow stronger."

"No…no…I locked it away…" Feliz walked up behind her, and grabbed the mandragora's body from her hands and tossed it over the cliff. She stared up in horror at him.

"You cannot lock it away. It will always be a part of you. Better accept it Sobe-chan…or it will destroy you." Feliz laughed again, and vanished into the shadows. Sobe stared down at her bloody hands, the hunger already beginning to grow again.

"The nightmare…alone…no…" She bowed her head and cried.
