Nothing wrong with a “need to kill this” quest, but it could also be fun to do some RP where the problem needs to be researched and detective work needs to be done before we head out to find the magic item or kill the mob behind the problem.Kaolla
Ok since this seems to be referring to the hunt system I posted, I want to make a few points about it. 1: it is by no way the only thing we'd do. the point of the company is to help each other by suggesting things to do during socials for those that have no ideas. If you don't like the suggested ideas such as mine, go ahead and don't attend it. Even better, suggest something yourself. I felt like writing something mainly because no one else has yet. 2: Hunts are in no way a "find and snipe" type of quests. the reason I ask the partecipants to go meet the petition is because that gives the scenario master (that could be the person who made the post, or someone else entirely who decided to accept the task) the chance to have the petitioner give certain conditions in order to find the notorious monster. Examples: the NM will show up only if lured with small chocobos (or other costumes), the NM must be lured out with a certain fish/synthetizable item, so go find the ingredients, the NM tends to attack red mages more than anything else (job change), the NM keeps itself hidden if there are men in the group, and so on. So as you can see there's plenty of freedom and fun stuff to RP on.
This is a good point – something that sounds professional would be a good idea. Using "Force", "Guard", "Corps", "Division", "Alliance", "Order", "Team", and "Company", within proper context, would be good places to start for a more… military-esque overtone.Draenen Wen
An example being the organization Kirious works in, "Scorpio Corps." That organization in particular even has ranks based on a combination of Military and Navy. (With Kirious being a Lieutenant Captain)Kirious
Glad Kirious and Drae got my point. My main reason for suggesting this is that if I was one of Vana'diel's NPC and was in trouble I'd look for a group whose name gave an idea of professionality and of what they do ('Shield' for example gives an idea of protectors, 'Sword' of hunters/fighters, but whose words Drae suggested in fit just as well).

To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.
"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." – Doug Walker
