I just worry that topics like this could lead to people becoming very critical of others characters. RP is a very personal thing and as such it would be very easy for someone to take offense to things that could be said here, especially on an open forum like this. I don't think this is a bad idea, I just don't know if its the best way to go about it, you know?

Maybe if you asked us specific questions you had about Kaolla or, if you are wondering why characters respond in certain ways. Something to help guide the discussion a bit and maybe ask us something specific. Your character is very complex and it is hard for me to write a general summary of Kaolla without writing an essay, and I also feel that doing a quick blurb wouldn't be enough either.

I’m just so tired of everyone tiptoeing around like our characters are made of fragile glass.Kaolla

Welcome to the internet. I could go on a huge philosophy rant about people being too easily insulted, or don't know how to take constructive criticism or hints, but this isn't the place for it.

Instead, I'll try and help the thread move along with what you're looking for. Some good Ol' Fashioned opinions.

If you aren't feeling welcome, you should try and push a little harder to get into the current story. While your character might have reasons to be secluded, most characters don't have a reason to come knocking on your door to ask if you wanna play outside. Come work your way into a Promy run. Sunday it was openly said "We're going to need more people for this" IC, so there's a big welcome sign for you. Maybe you were busy, maybe you weren't, but I didn't see you there.

As for a theme song, I haven't been around you long enough to try and pick one.

Okay, some thoughts that I have on my mind with regards to Kaolla…

I honestly have the impression that since Avina isn't lesbian in-character or bisexual in-character that it destroys my chances of ever having any sort of meaningful IC relationship with Kaolla. I say this because in our OOC conversations you've indicated that her finding a partner is very important and one of your biggest current issues, and also because Avina and Kaolla have had a lot of close interactions and moments where Avina has reached out to her and it hasn't ever seem to have improved things between Avina and/or Kaolla in the end.

As part of this Kaolla maintains a constant distance from the other characters, which is fine if you want to go for that, but you need to be aware that working with that path leads you to being a loner without much incentive for others to reach out to you because of the points I made above. Another point I'd like to make, if Kaolla wants people to interact with her and to be able to tag alnog on these adventures, why does she keep her linkpearl buried at the bottom of her bag? IRL, if I wanted to keep in contact with people and give them an opportunity to keep in contact with me, I keep my cell phone charged and on me most of the time. If didn't want to interact with people, I'd turn off my cell, let it run out of battery, or better yet just not have one. Likewise in this group, if you keep your pearl buried at the bottom of your bag, people are going to assume you don't really want to keep in touch (because if you did, burying your pearl is the complete opposite way of achieving that goal).

With regards to the situation yesterday in which you felt ditched, consider this: there's big problems going on and we're all talking about it in a group, talk of crystals shattering and wyrms flying through the skies, hidden organizations… and this all seemed to bore Kaolla enough to fall asleep. Then we all leave in a hurry and you are still left sleeping (Falgor had shouted to Kaolla at one point as well, but she slept through). But if Kaolla doesn't care about what's happening, why would we bring her? (And maybe she does care, but what I'm saying is that its difficult for me to see)

I plan to make a full reply to this and my thoughts, but I just wanted to point out that at least Avina knows for sure that Kaolla is a lesbian since Kaolla more or less told Avina this IC that time they talked in the castle guardian. Kaolla let it slip that she liked women, and specifically asked Avina to keep it a secret.

In regards to the theme posts, Kao, no one has replied to mine either. Or Sae's, or anyone's. It's just something people don't really reply to… I think Themes section is more seen as a showcase. It's made to help yourself explain your characters to others, to let them know what music you hear in your head when your character is doing something.

It's not really something someone would comment, unless they have personal reasons.
To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." – Doug Walker

Kao,

Only because you specifically asked, normally I'd rather not give much opinion on someone's character..

I personally find it very hard to RP with Kaolla ICly.. I've moved Aur out of her way a couple times to try and RP, but felt rather put off by the outcome =\ The one that comes to mind most, Aur and Kao were in the Tavern and Aurou had to more or less walk right up to Kao's face and start talking at her, but Kao gave a small response and got lost in her book. Aur was in the Tavern for a good bit of time by herself for no real reason except that attempt at talking. Kao didn't do anything again until Avi and some others showed up and were talking to Aurou about Summoning, where Kao proceeded to spurt off some stuff that I personally have never picked up from the game before.

I suggest that you make Kao even just a teensie bit more social-able… because it is VERY hard to interact with her. I would not go smack someone on the back every time I wanted their attention, it seems like that has to be done to get Kao's.

She has an interesting story, and it would be wonderful to get more of it IC! But it's just so hard to even get a small conversation going.

Aurou and Kaolla have similar beginnings that they might be able to bond? over if they were ever to really talk and get to know one another.

As far as themes go, I don't click on/listen to any of them *shrugs* I just click on the forum link to make it un-bold.
