Background:
Tailzz was born in Bastok to a White Mage and Paladin. He had a knack for learning and things came easy to him so when he was old enough to choose a profession, he chose to follow in his Father's footsteps as a White Mage. His intelligence and ability to learn fast helped him greatly when learning the basics of White Magic. It wasn't long before he had learned enough to be of use and began to serve in the Republic alongside his father. Bastok had been battling the Quadav for as long as Tailzz could remember, and they were always in need of volunteers and new recruits. Tailzz started out as a Field Medic, helping injured troops out on the battlefield and getting the more seriously injured back to Bastok for healing. While he enjoyed helping others and serving his homeland, he yearned to do more than just heal. He wanted to be of more use than just a Medic. Sadly his skills were only that of healing and using his mind. His physical abilities were nothing to write home about. Sure he could defend himself if need be but that was about it. There was always Black Magic but his Father forbid him from dabbling too much in the ways of Black Magic to prevent him from being corrupted. If only he could do more.
Then one day everything changed. Tailzz's sister, Lucca, told him she heard a rumor about powerful mages who could channel the power of the Gods and use it to do their bidding. This intrigued him. If he could learn to harness the power of the Gods he could help not just Bastok, but anyone and everyone! He had to know more. Right away he went to the Bastokan library to research this rumor. Unfortunately he could find nothing about this rumor in the Bastok library. Their knowledge was mostly about machinery and inventing things. Magic wasn't their forte. All was not lost however: the librarian told Tailzz he might find more information at the library in San d'Oria. While he hated to admit it the San d'Orian library was much bigger than their own and held much more knowledge. He was sure Tailzz would find what he was looking for there. So Tailzz returned home and told his family of his decision. It was with a heavy heart that they bid farewell as he left on his journey. He would keep in touch via Moogle mail and would return home one day, but that would be some time from now.
It was a few weeks before Tailzz finally made it to San d'Oria. It was a long Chocobo ride and he had to make several rest stops for his bird and himself, and he got lost once or twice along the way. He'll never admit that though. When he finally entered San d'Oria it was nighttime so he checked into a Rental Room and wrote a letter to home to let them know he had made it safely. Then he went to sleep. The next day he found the library after asking a guard for directions. It was indeed bigger and more vast than the Bastokan library. He was sure he would find more about this rumor that intrigued him so. Tailzz searched day after day and sadly found nothing about the rumor. He was about to retire for the night some several nights later when the librarian approached him. She was a young Elvaan woman with flowing red hair and beautiful green eyes. She told him he would probably find more about his rumor in Windurst as they were the ones invented Magic. This bestowed Tailzz with new hope. He thanked her for telling him and quickly made his way back to his room to prepare for the journey to Windurst. However, before he could leave he was requested to aid the San d'Orian army in their battle with the Orcs. Apparently the Orcs launched a devestating attack that night and left several of their troops injured. Tailzz was needed to help heal them and aid those on the battlefield. Having a strong sense of justice and wanting to help those in need he agreed without hesitation, putting his quest on hold for the time being. When the fighting calmed down some months later he requested a leave of absense so he could continue his quest. His request was granted due to his outstanding performance and he left shortly thereafter.
The trek to Windurst was even longer than the journey to San d'Oria. He had to travel first to Jeuno, stop and rest and resupply, then head from there through Sauromogue Champaign, then Tahrongi Canyon, around Fort Karugo-Narugo, and finally across West Sarutabaruta to Windurst. It was an exausting trip and it took a couple days for him to recover from it. When he did he immediately made his way to the library in the Optistery. Finally he found what he was looking for. The rumor was true! Not only was it true but it was pretty common here in Windurst. The ability to harness the power of the Gods was called Summoning. The library had very detailed information about it. It seemed those who used Summoning Magic were called Summoners. They used their magic by making pacts with the Gods, allowing them to use a fraction of their power to aid them. The task required to become a Summoner was no easy feat and it required a rare ruby dropped from Leeches. Tailzz set out to find this ruby and after many days searching finally came across one. With the ruby in hand he returned to the library and continued his research. Day in and day out he was there, reading page after page, book after book about Summoning and Summoners. Finally, some months after he began his research, he was ready to try to summon. He concentrated as hard as he could, putting all the knowledge he had gained from his reading to use, and successfully summoned an Air Spirit. He was so thrilled with his feat that he didn't notice the effect it had on him. Summoners used their own energy to keep their summons with them in a constant flow. Tailzz didn't realize this until it was too late and passed out from the energy loss. When he awoke he stared into the face of a female Tarutaru.
This Taru was Gariri, the leader of the Scorpion Casters, a group of Summoners serving Windurst. She had seen Tailzz's summon and was impressed he learned so much from just books. She saw he had some potential and with some training and hard work he could possibly be a great Summoner. She decided to take him under her wing and train him. It would not be easy by any means. Her training regimes were fierce and rigorus. Any normal person would die from them. Tailzz had a very tough time ahead of him, but he was prepared to face it head on. He wrote his family and explained everything to them. He told him his home would be Windurst for some time but he would visit when he could. They wished him the best and hoped he succeded in his training.
((I'll add the names of his parents, and his last name later. Hope you enjoy it.))
