Since many of us will be a part of the roleplaying groups Tales of Vana'diel and Tales of Hydaelyn simultaneously, I thought it might be a good idea to have a separate member title for those who are in both of the linkshells.
The practical application of this, I believe, is that it will explain to newcomers why some people between the two sites use different usernames for their characters (for example, Draenen will still be Draenen I believe on the XIV board, despite roleplaying Silke). So there is some utility to be gained from this.
I want to stress, though…
1. This is by no means a form of 'veteran' status. 2. Dual Members do not have any additional or enhanced permissions in comparison to other members.
At this stage, roleplayers can get the dual member title by doing the following:
Having successfully applied to both Tales of Vana'diel and Tales of Hydaelyn forums and been accepted as members to both.
As a tentative note: If one begins to overwhelmingly favor one of the groups over the other, or outright quits one of the games to focus solely on another, you may lose your Dual Member classification. The purpose of the classification is simply to denote who is a member a both, and who is not, to help explain Guildwork usernames (and possibly explain why I might call Silke, 'Drae' in game, for example).
That's fine. It may also help newcomers understand why some specific people disappear from XIV during ToV scheduled RP days.
To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.
"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." – Doug Walker
