RP type: Quest & Social

Date: Saturday 15th December

Active Attendees:
Aurou
Avina
Burald
Draenen
Kenjii
Kirious
Mirror (as himself and Kaden Ashfoot later)
Saerun (as herself and Etadial later)

Summary:
Avina, Kenjii and Mirror leave Windurst to get back home. On the way, Avina suggests that there may still be some Salaheem's Sentinels recruiters in Jeuno, and Kenjii agrees to check. After finding Saerun in the bustling port, the group decides to check around Lower Jeuno, and make the Merry Minstrel their first checkpoint. In there, the rumors are all about Aht Urhgan and the mercenaries of course, and a shady, mysterious adventurer addresses the group to Upper Jeuno. Before leaving the building, Mirror is assaulted by a familiar-looking woman, Maeve, and also Aurou appears, much to Saerun and Avina's shock. The mithra runs off and the group chases after her until she's cornered at the gate in Upper Jeuno.

There, Aurou reveals of having spent all this time as a mercenary in Aht Urhgan, and that she has no recollection of ever coming back to the Middle Lands with Saerun and Nodem. Mirror suggests that this may be cause of a strange habit of the Near Eastern people to get forgetful with time, but nothing seems to convince the summoner, who ultimately leaves.

Still puzzled and doubtful, the group then meet with the Aht Urhgan recruiter (who also teleported Aurou away), and accept the white badges to investigate on the Empire while they function as promoters. At some point, Avina and the others are tackled down (quite literally, in Kenjii's case) by Burald, who seems to have a fealty hatred for the Empire and the Sentinels, and made his goal to not let a single white badge in the adventurers' hands. Mirror jumps in, and distracts Burald with cheesy tales of admiration and gratitude for saving Draenen, to let the others run off and continue their search. With some difficulty, the Siren's Sword accomplishes to scan through all of Jeuno, though nothing is still discovered about whatever mean of transport to the Empire.

The group eventually splits, and Burald goes back to his insane badge-hunting. Kenjii decides to take the chance and go back to San d'Oria to inquire about Aht Urhgan with Kaden Ashfoot, Draenen's brother-in-law and the very same man Kenjii helped to capture when Aderyn was kidnapped. The Far Eastern white mage is quite tight-lipped on how to get to the Near East, though he takes the chance to make one malicious offer to take Kenjii there if he'd let him escape with his son. Kenjii refuses, but leaves somewhat troubled, wondering about his friends left in the East and the war still ongoing with Aht Urhgan.

To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." – Doug Walker

Back in Whitegate, Aurou heads to the teahouse expecting to have a meal without being bothered by the past. Her hopes are dashed though; as she places her order, another customer who is sitting at the counter does a spit-take in recognition of the Mithra.

Aurou and Draenen move to one of the platforms to finish their meals and talk; Draenen revealing that she is looking for someone, and Aurou saying that she is waiting for someone. They are briefly interrupted by an Elvaan man who Aurou and, apparently Saerun, had met before. After he leaves, Aurou asks Draenen about the last time she was seen, and like the others in the Middle Land, Draenen insists that Aurou was also in Al'Taieu and, even more, was there during the fight against the Twilight God. Aurou does a spit-take at this, both at he thought of such a fight and that the incident took place early in the summer. After a little gentle prodding, she reveals that she has been waiting for Nodem, who has apparently disappeared himself, and possibly within the same timeframe that her memory loss covers. In the meantime, she's been making ends meet as a mercenary in Aht Urghan.

Kirious joins them, briefly confirming that he remembers seeing Aurou in Al'Taieu, before getting down to business and asking if any 'Blues' have been spotted. Although the question wasn't directed towards her, Draenen mentions seeing three Immortals heading through the gates into the Woodlands, and Aurou questions why he would be asking a question like that, being an Immortal himself. Kirious is quick to deny being affiliated with the Immortals, hinting that he is a stain on their reputation and that he doesn't want them to know that he is there quite yet. When Aurou offers to help them with their mission in Aht Urghan, Kirious hesitates; recalling the trouble he had with Siren's Swords in the past. Ultimately he agrees though, reasoning it would be better to have Aurou where he can keep an eye on her. Draenen then hands Aurou an old picture of her older sister, explaining to her that this is who they were looking for.

Their food and drink finished, the three decide to head their seperate ways. Draenen offers Aurou one of the spare Siren Swords linkpearls that she had 'aquired' some time before, explaining that while it does not pick up a clear signal from the Middle Lands, it still works clearly between the couple pearls that are there in the Near East. Aurou comments that she doesn't feel quite ready to face the rest of the group again, and jokingly Draenen notes that the pearl will give her advance warning if the group is stupid enough to get taken in by the recruiters that have been sent to the Middle Lands – something she had meant to keep quiet in front of Kirious. Aurou and Draenen are quick to calm and placate Kirious, who very nearly flies into a rage at the thought that the rest of Siren's Swords might eventually show up; he is obviously still angry at the setbacks he experienced with the group.

They finally break apart, giving directions on how to find each other later incase the need arrives.

When the hero enters to kill me, I will ask him to first explain to my grandchild why it is necessary to kill her beloved grandma. When the hero launches into an explanation of morality way over her head, that will be her cue to pull the lever and send him into the pit of crocodiles. After all, small children like crocodiles almost as much as Evil Overlords and it's important to spend quality time with the grandkids.

"How hard did you hit him?"
"Quite hard, actually. For some reason he irritated me." They stared back to where the Grolim lay.
"You're getting to be more like Belgarath every day," Silk told him. "You do more damage out of simple irritation than most men can do in a towering rage."
