Seeing as Saerun's suggestion in the Brainstorming section of the forum was positively well-received I would like to get this scenario underway. I'd like to run it through a quick vote just to make sure that at least most of the RPers are in favor of this idea but I didn't seen anyone saying they were not.

Quoting Saerun's explanation of the scenario below:

So I've talked to a few people about this idea and have gotten positive feedback, so I thought I'd post this to get other peoples' opinions. Let me know!

A criminal arrives in Port Jeuno, walking in from the airship from Kazham, carrying a wrapped bundle in his arms. As the criminal walks by a member of our group, the bundle…starts crying? The criminal looks around, panicked, the crying starting to draw unwanted attention. The criminal shoves the bundle into one of our arms, and takes off quickly. Unwrapping the bundle shows that it is a little baby mithra, no more than a year old.

We bring the child to a nearby guard, and get told that a search will be commenced for the child's parents, but in the meantime, we should look after the child.

A group of adventurers + a baby = How hard could it be…right?

The things that I'm suggesting as guidelines for this are as follows:

1. The same adventurer should not look after the child more than two nights in a row. We've all heard the horror stories of how much children tend to cry at night. After two nights, I'd imagine that that adventurer would be quite sleep deprived, and would not be at the top of their game for the next day.

2. Protect the child at nearly all costs. The parents, and the duchy would not be pleased if something happened to the child. We're on shaky ground with the Duchy as it is, let's not blow this!

3. Do not abuse the child. Yeah, babies can be annoying to look after, especially if they're not your own. But casting silence on a baby to make it stop crying does count as abuse (the child is trying to let you know something is wrong! If you give her what she needs, she'll be quiet on her own!).

4. Money. Hopefully, we can all pitch in a bit in order to buy the essentials: Bottles, diapers, formula/milk, and clothes. This of course can be decided as a group.

Please let me know what you think, and if there's anything else that should be added/removed. Thanks!Saerun

I'm interested. I've already got a childcare sub-plot for Draen (regarding her nephew), so if she got the baby handed off to her at some point she wouldn't be too freaked out… at first. A baby isn't the same as a six-year-old.

When the hero enters to kill me, I will ask him to first explain to my grandchild why it is necessary to kill her beloved grandma. When the hero launches into an explanation of morality way over her head, that will be her cue to pull the lever and send him into the pit of crocodiles. After all, small children like crocodiles almost as much as Evil Overlords and it's important to spend quality time with the grandkids.

"How hard did you hit him?"
"Quite hard, actually. For some reason he irritated me." They stared back to where the Grolim lay.
"You're getting to be more like Belgarath every day," Silk told him. "You do more damage out of simple irritation than most men can do in a towering rage."
