So I've talked to a few people about this idea and have gotten positive feedback, so I thought I'd post this to get other peoples' opinions. Let me know!

A criminal arrives in Port Jeuno, walking in from the airship from Kazham, carrying a wrapped bundle in his arms. As the criminal walks by a member of our group, the bundle…starts crying? The criminal looks around, panicked, the crying starting to draw unwanted attention. The criminal shoves the bundle into one of our arms, and takes off quickly. Unwrapping the bundle shows that it is a little baby mithra, no more than a year old.

We bring the child to a nearby guard, and get told that a search will be commenced for the child's parents, but in the meantime, we should look after the child.

A group of adventurers + a baby = How hard could it be…right?

The things that I'm suggesting as guidelines for this are as follows:

1. The same adventurer should not look after the child more than two nights in a row. We've all heard the horror stories of how much children tend to cry at night. After two nights, I'd imagine that that adventurer would be quite sleep deprived, and would not be at the top of their game for the next day.

2. Protect the child at nearly all costs. The parents, and the duchy would not be pleased if something happened to the child. We're on shaky ground with the Duchy as it is, let's not blow this!

3. Do not abuse the child. Yeah, babies can be annoying to look after, especially if they're not your own. But casting silence on a baby to make it stop crying does count as abuse (the child is trying to let you know something is wrong! If you give her what she needs, she'll be quiet on her own!).

4. Money. Hopefully, we can all pitch in a bit in order to buy the essentials: Bottles, diapers, formula/milk, and clothes. This of course can be decided as a group.

Please let me know what you think, and if there's anything else that should be added/removed. Thanks!

Lol sounds fun, though I think it would need a system worked out 1st to figure out how things happen. Maybe occasionally using /random to determine events. Like between 000 and 100 she’s hungry between 101 and 200 she needs to be changed etc. A “prop” could be useful too, some in-game item that can be traded to show who has the baby IC. Though that’s probably not necessary, just an idea.

I can’t help feel that that silence comment was directed at Kaolla lol. Though I do have to admit that is so something she would do. Add the fact that IC Kaolla is having some major issues with controlling her magic putting a kitten in her care could be a disaster…

Sorry, vendor'd the baby.

Pretty sure I won't be a part of this on the grounds that unless it was jammed into his arms first, your characters would have to be absolutely stupid to give a live baby to Kirious.

LOL

Kaolla casts silence on the baby so it’ll be quiet, then Kirious takes the silenced baby and tries to sell it on the Auction House. Kaolla is of course too busy reading her grimoire or some other book to even notice.

The poor kitten. Something tells me this is gonna end up as a weird mix of Wolf and Cub and the Adams Family.

I like this idea and totally approve it. As for the events I don't feel like a random is necessary, the scenario master can probably handle it np.

Let's do this! It sounds like lots of fun.
To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." – Doug Walker

Or maybe raise it as my own, and then in a few years I could have an apprentice…my very own little bundle of MURDER.
