- Upper Jueno -

It was well past two in the morning. Passerby were few and those about were in a hurry to retire to their Rent-a-Rooms. Unnoticed as he padded past the guide stone, Jinglix Pugsnout made his way to the extensive back alleys of Jueno. In his arms he carried a massive tome emblazoned with many strange symbols. He seemed extremely preoccupied with reaching his destination, ignoring the occasional taunting call from a rude adventurer. If one were able to see past his goggles, they would have seen a stare burning with near fevered excitement. Finally arriving, he pushed open the backdoor of Muckvix's Junkshop which resulted in a tremendous creak from the termite-ridden door. "I found it! After long years at last it is back!" Several shopkeeps and stockers turned in surprise at this sudden intrusion. "Where is Hukfox? I must see her!", Jinglix hastily questioned. After some flustered gesturing he was directed to the private quarters of Straysinger Hukfox, one of the many goblin guild heads. "Madam Hukfox! I have found it! Here, look!" He was positively animated as he plopped the apparently massive book upon the Bastokan-wrought darksteel desk. Hukfox seemed in awe as she ran a mitten-covered paw over the dusty and decrepit tome. Her voice carried the tone of one who has seen the coming of a savior long-waited for, "At last…. the Folio has returned to us." Small cracks in her voice betrayed her age, marking her as a goblin used to being called an elder for many years. "You have done a great deed for our kind Jinglix. Your rewards are awaiting you at the docks. And more is on the way if this proves to reveal what we have long searched for." Jinglix bowed graciously and withdrew from the room to let his benefactor pore over her new prize. Reverently she turned the cover over to the first page. On it was a detailed though faded sketch of a goblin and hume saluting eachother. A title of sorts was scribbled beneath. "My Story" was the simple phrase penned in the unsteady hand of another goblin….Obi

Me and my companions set out on our journey today. We know not what awaits us out in the surface world, but we pray that our voyage is without loss. I am nervous.. silly to admit I suppose. Gintrix Skinksniper is afraid of the outside world.. but who wouldn't be right? Us goblins and moblins aren't meant to be up there.. with the beasts. But us pioneers must serve the greater good. To explore all that we can, to find what hasn't been seen. All this to find…to find what even I'm not sure.

I and the others left the safety of the plateau mines through the large cave network. We stopped to fill our extra ram skins with the refreshing cool water from the underground pools. As we trekked through grass, my eyes are drawn to the monumental structure that looms over much here. Sculpted of a strange matter that even our top scientists fail to understand (but which they have dated as to be nearly 10 millenia old), these artificial titans seem almost as if they're hiding a secret within them. Only adding to their mystery are the three brilliant crystals spinning in endless cycle upon pedestals. In my own opinion, these structures serve or have served some greater purpose that my people will not understand for a long time.

We camped the third night in the foothills that connect to the forests frequented by those tall savages. This was a calculated risk. We were nearly encroaching on their self-proclaimed territory for the reason that strange spirits wander the plateau at night. Our daggers, bombs, …even our cast iron frypans wouldn't so much as dent a ghoul. We'll keep the fire down of course, we don't want to attract the attention of undead or pillaging pointy-eared wildthings. …It is late and I am obviously rambling.. Suppose it is time for me to rest.Obi

We had an encounter with one of the giant rams that wander the plateaus today. Ordinarily we would have stopped to slay the beast for valuable food and supplies (the scratchy wool is especially useful for clothing material) but we were also ambushed by the tall savages at the same time. It seems they had been hunting the ram and mistook our accidental encroaching as an attack. Not having the numbers to stave off assaults from two brute forces, we were forced to retreat. We lost several hours in our trek as a result…

Where did the tall savages (they call themselves "elvaan" apparantely) come from? What terrible wind brought them to our lands? Their homelands must surely be a realm of rampant chaos and violence… If only the rest of the world had the goblin touch.. Oh well.Obi

We lost Clocktak the other night. After curtailing woody forests north of the ancient monument, we were unfortunate enough to stumble upon the nesting place of wyrm. Of course we weren't foolish enough to try and fight the massive beast. But even flight carried it's own heavy cost… Luckily for the rest of my group, Clocktak's demise distracted the monster long enough for us to split up and later regroup in a foreboding tunnel system. I feel guilt for having lived.. Perhaps that is why I'm writing this down. This tunnel is cold and dank, and absolutely crawling with scorpions and slime blobs. The scorpions aren't too bad.. but the slimes keep eating our frypans.. This has made cooking a chore.Obi
